I wanted to try a new way of working so I opted to go down the super duper vortex of DAW-lessness. This machine is synonymous with a close knit community of Hip Hop producers and live performers, most iconic being Dilla (rip) himself who used a similar iteration on his album Doughnuts. I wasn’t exactly sure how I’d best utilise this machine but I wanted to try it as an alternative to always using my MacBook and Machine or carrying around the heavy MPC Live 2. The SP-404 MK2 would be my mobile way of working for the commute to work or to jam out whilst on my lunch break.

Although receiving mine, there are so many others who have yet to get theirs as supplies at the time of recording were super limited. I’m glad in hindsight that I ordered when I did because at the time of updating this blog, many people in different regions who ordered a few weeks after me still haven’t received theirs yet.

Woke up early on the second day of my May bank holiday weekend to get out and enjoy the sights of Brick Lane. First stop was to see what the food situation was on the Lane, then we hit up Green Machine to see what the CBD store had to offer, headed back to the lane from Boxpark to get some Tibetan Dumplins and Jerk Chicken, head to Dark Sugars for gelato and some hot chocolate before heading home via Spitalfields.

As per usual no edits were made to this footage and no adjustments were made to the settings in my DJI Pocket 2, this is how it shoots out the box and that’s why I love it!

After the debacle that was editing and uploading Find Your Fitrah, I really became concerned about the backup of data and how I was to edit and store my files. I got myself a LaCie 4TB external drive and discovered a Brother P-Touch H101TB labeller somewhere in the house and figured I’d put it to use.

This was the very first video I have editing on an external source and there’s definitely a difference when it comes to read speeds and rendering. I figure that it’s better to continue editing on the external to getting into the habit of doing so. It obviously isn’t better than doing it with the libraries stored locally because of all the transferring back and forth, also add all the rendering files too. Besides everything would be in one place.

One thing I realised is that this LaCie drive is about 10mb/s transfer speed slower than the drive I got with my Mac that I use as a Time Machine backup. In that sense I accept the L on that but we move…

Invested in an Är Face Mask as I’m due back to work in a customer facing role and wanted extra protection. I also go through why I’m so active these days as I open up about my PTSD after having covid-19 in late December.

During this video, which is largely unedited, I take you through the unboxing of items, fitting everything together and talk through the trying on of the mask and how it feels. Most importantly as a glasses wearing I give the verdict regarding steam on the lens.

Testing out how the Insta360 One X2 records in a variety of light conditions whilst vacuuming on a saturday morning. No enhancements were made to the footage that was shot, sound was lowered so music can sit on top.

In references to last weeks Broadcasting Live episode, here’s some of the footage from the Insta360 One X2. On reflection I was kinda hasty with sending it back, I kinda wish I had the patience to stream with it and use it as a webcam however like I said we just didn’t get along too well. More moments to come as I’ve got some more footage in the pipeline from that same Saturday.

Ate a meal from a new place on Uber Eats which specialises in Soul Food. Not sure about the Jerk Chicken but I’m grateful that I’m in a catchment area which allows me to get cultural food delivered to my door.
