Keep Going

Tuesday, 3rd December 2014, 08:13

Whatever you’re doing don’t stop, keep going.

Despite you feeling like you’re building your beach grain by grain, keep going.

Focus on the moment, action by action, keep going.

Focus on the journey, step by step, keep going.

Sooner or later when you pause to rest and reflect, you’ll discover how far you’ve travelled.

The road that seemed to have no end, seems at least to have gifted you a change of scenery.

Look at how much you’ve grown.

You’ve got many tales to share.

Keep going, keep sharing, keep creating.

Context (Origins of Autobiography of a Nobody)

In two days I’ve made 2 sales of my EP, Autobiography of a Nobody to some DJs from Tel Aviv that I never knew would’ve known I ever existed, all thanks to me sharing my work via Soundcloud a few days earlier. When I messaged Verti Sahara to say thank you, she shared that I was found on the discovery page and she’d play ‘I’m Mad’ to open her set that weekend. When I think about the circumstances that I wrote and produced that track, even writing and publishing it a few days before her purchase it fills me with an immense sense of gratitude that my music is being heard. Paid for at that. A few days later I received another notification that another had purchased too. This may have been a result of Verti dropping the track at the rave and then maybe asking about the song. Again I sent a message to express my gratitude.

This has been the cherry on top of spending a majority of the past two weeks getting my affairs in order. The collective £8 (£10 before Bandcamp fees) within a few days of each other made me realise that it weren’t a fluke, word of mouth recommendations are equally as important as ‘social reach’ and it also reassured me that there are still DJs out there that search for music. Sounds very ignorant on my part to be honest, maybe because I haven’t DJ’d in years but I’m still amazed. I guess you can tell that when I create and release music my expectations are pretty low concerning listeners and even more purchasers. I knew about the power of Bandcamp as a consumer from my DJ days but now as a creator I’ll be paying so much more attention. It’s definitely given me the boost and incentive to keep going.

Make good music, everyone buys it. – Primark Boy

Don’t Fear Failure https://whereisko.com/2021/09/29/dont-fear-failure/ Wed, 29 Sep 2021 09:10:00 +0000 https://whereisko.com/?p=184 If you remember the early allegorical excursions of 2010, here’s one I wrote about failure.

Failure is not something not to be feared nor considered, just go for whatever it is you want and achieve your goal, live your dream.

Failure is always a certainty because its the opposite of success, it’s a 50% certainty of the outcome with anything you do.

The more time, effort, energy and enthusiasm you put into something, the more chance you have of success because luck is not something that happens, you create it by doing.

In order for luck to come your way, you need to put the right energy into the universe so it can flow back to you.

Forget failure because it lies next to success in the future, put your trust into whatever it is you’re doing and consider what you do in the present as the most important.

The present is the only place you can see, touch, hear, smell and feel.

Work on a second to second basis, all else, past and future is void.

Seek your prize, put yourself into the moment and stay in your present continuously, to build.

Each second becomes a brick, lay one brick per second of your existence, each brick you lay represents a step of progression.

Build the highest, and most robust, from a very strong and stable foundation, which will evolve into a town, a city, a whole universe of endless possibility…

The present is where destiny lies so grab it, embrace it whilst u can.

It goes nowhere but it also requires you to stand up and say:

Forget failure, I’m going for mine. This moment is forever, there is neither past nor future, just right now.

Think about it this way; a creator transcends time, a creator lives in one moment because that one moment transcends all time frames because a creator is eternal, boundless.

It makes no sense to procrastinate so become boundless, infinite, and timeless as the creator, live in the moment.

A creator is successful because they live outside of the hourglass, and dictate life in the confines of the hourglass from the outside.

Live in your moment, that’s all that matters, forget failure just do, be present because it’s one of the only places you can trust yourself to make a difference.

Are You Happy? https://whereisko.com/2018/08/05/are-you-happy/ Sun, 05 Aug 2018 19:42:20 +0000 https://whereisko.com/?p=149 A geniunely simple question that isn't that easy to answer.

I remember my dad asking me random questions like that and they would baffle the hell outta me. Funny how a question so simple turns into an elaborate answer of ifs, buts, and maybes. It doesn’t even require much thought or even an answer other than yes or no because it’s a close ended question.

Maybe I confuse myself by mistaking happiness for stagnation or living so far ahead in the future rather than the present. I find myself living for the end of things whether it be an appointment, the first half of a shift, the working day, the commute home, the cycle of promotion for an event, the event night itself, phone calls, conversations, awkward small talk… I look forward to the end of everything, in a majority of situations.

I’m at my happiest when I’m nestled away all alone in silence, laying down staring out of the window and breathing. Most of the things that get to us on a day to day or moment to moment are so insignificant it’s unreal. Think of the salary you get to go to work, is it ever or will it ever be enough when you think of all the things you could be doing with your time. The audacity that someone has decided how much an hour of your time is worth and offered you employment as if they’ve did you the favour is a mad ting.

If you didn’t have to work due to the financial commitments and spending habit you’ve developed over the corse of a few years what would you really be doing day to day?

I’d probably be laying on my bed staring up and out of the window in silence, listening to the sounds of outside.
I may even be under a tree, sitting in the shade, admiring the skyline and sights of the city.
I could be in another place with my girl exploring a foreign land and observing a different set of cultural customs.

Time is precious and with every moment you should be maximising your time by doing something you love rather than continue to torment yourself in a deep pool of pretence.

Don’t get it twisted, I love what I do for living and the brand I work for but I always wonder whether I’m living my life’s purpose. I always wonder if I’m really where I want to be, doing what I’m doing.

Does the work, energy and passion equate to the reward or am I continually selling myself short?
